At Southgate we learn about different painters and their styles.


Them bones, them bones, them dry bones... Year 3 have been sorting animals into vertebrates with an endoskeleton, invertebrates with an exoskeleton and invertebrates with a hydrostatic skeleton.


Reception have their own Learning Garden. The girls have been giving directions around the garden and also exploring the fairy garden and writing stories about what might happen there.


On Friday, Southgate celebrated Children in Need. The children dressed in spotty or yellow clothes and donated 50p towards this super charity. We raised £203. Well done everyone.


In computing Dahl Class has been looking at coding and using sequences to create animations. The children created sequences to make a spaceship travel to the moon, pause, then return to Earth


Southgate has been thinking about kindness and have been celebrating out unique characteristics during Anti-bullying Week. We wore odd socks to launch our week.


Year 5 have been making Viking Long Houses as part of their Viscious Vikings Topic this half term


Campbell Class, our Year R have been learning all about Diwali. They learned about the festival, tasted traditional Indian sweeties and made divas.

We start each half term with Discovery Days at Southgate. This is a chance for us to explore our new topic or theme, for our teachers to find out what the children know already and for us to 'get stuck in' to new learning.

We love spelling at Southgate. These children received a certificate of achievemnt for all their hard work.


If I had a hammer.... Year R have been doing woodwork but have made sure they are totally safe with these grown up tools. Safety goggles and hi vis jackets and just look at their finished products.


Year 1 have been making structures in Design Technology. They have been planning and making and testing and evaluating, just look at that concentration!


It's Good News Week at Southgate. Every teacher had to choose children who have been great team players or amazing learners this half term. Here are our Key Stage 1 super stars.


In design technology Year 5 have been making phone covers. (they'll now be able to sew on a button and fix a hem!) I've seen some amazing results.


On Thursday, the Year 6 football team played in the Crawley District Cup. We were drawn in a tough group but finished with two wins, one draw and a loss. We finished in 3rd place due to goal difference. Well done to all the boys involved.
